Cisco has announced a major expansion of its Security Everywhere platform to cover a wider range of threats facing businesses large and small.
This includes several new products designed for enterprises looking to bolster protection for shadow IT, endpoints and the cloud.
Also in the new release is a new Threat Awareness Service which will provide organisations with threat visibility into their networks and hopefully protect them against attacks.
The company’s Threat Awareness Service looks to combat that using Cisco’s threat intelligence telemetry, heightening the threat visibility of inbound and outbound network activity and highlighting potential threats that may require additional attention.
Also included in the new package is Cisco’s Cloud Access Security (CAS), which provides visibility and data security for cloud-based applications, as recent research from the company found that the number of unauthorised cloud applications used by employees in the enterprise is 15 to 20 times higher than CIOs predicted due to Shadow IT.
Lastly, Cisco’s Identity Services Engine (ISE) will extend visibility and control for network and endpoints with new location access controls, helping those companies that are increasingly opening up their networks to mobile devices and IoT products.
“Organisations that are seizing the digital opportunity need security everywhere – from the network to the endpoint and from the cloud to every corner of their operations – to limit the risk of sensitive data compromise,” said David Goeckeler, senior vice president and general manager of Cisco’s security business group.
“Our integrated approach minimises security risks and exposure versus point solutions that can leave gaps as they lack a holistic view. Today’s product, solution and services enhancements provide our customers with visibility, protection and control to address a broader cross-section of issues. This will allow them to focus on growing their businesses.”
