Digital Realty Considering Interxion Acquisition

European data centre colocation provider Interxion may be acquired by Digital Realty, according to reports by Data Centre Knowledge.

The acquisition would come after Interxion was jilted by Telecity last year, with Equinix stepping in and acquiring Telecity for £2.35bn.

Market

The consolidation, if went ahead, would place Interxion in a better position to take on the data centre behemoth that is now a combined Equinix and Telecity, which holds a 10 percent share in the European data centre market.

TechWeekEurope contacted Interxion and Digital Realty, but both declined to comment.

In July last year, Digital Realty went ahead with its acquisition of Telx Group in a data centre deal valued at £1.21bn. That deal was approved in October.

IDC estimates that Interxion has a 3.5 percent share in the European multi-tenant data centre market.
