EE has been named the best mobile operator in London by independent research firm RootMetrics, which carried out 86,870 network tests during its fourth visit to the capital, and its first since all four major carriers have been operating 4G services.
The operator earned an overall score of 92.2 out of 100 thanks to strong performances in mobile Internet, call and text testing, while the firm was named fastest and most reliable network for a third consecutive time, although it shared the latter accolade with Three.
Three came second overall with 88.5, ahead of O2 with 87.5 and Vodafone with 86 points.
EE and Three both scored 93.7 in the reliability stakes to top the table, with O2 scoring 88.8 and Vodafone 87.1. EE was also deemed to be the fastest with a score of 89.5, ahead of Vodafone with 82.5 and O2 with 81.4, while Three was last with 72.7. In terms of calls, O2, Three and EE all scored between 89.9 and 89.7 while EE performed best in the text category with 96, although last-placed Three was only 2.1 points further back.
Earlier this year, EE was named the best network in the UK after what RootMetrics claimed was the most comprehensive study of mobile coverage ever undertaken in the UK. It is also doing well in individual cities, recently being names as the best network in Birmingham, Leeds and Leicester for the third consecutive occasion.
