EE 4G has arrived in nine more towns and cities across the UK, bringing the total number of 4G connected locations to 37.
Barnsley, Chorley, Coventry, Newport, Preston, Rotherham, Telford, Walsall and Watford have all been added to the network as EE presses ahead with its commitment to bring 4G to at least 72 towns and cities by the summer.
“We’re committed to making the UK’s first 4G service available to as many people, as quickly as possible,” said EE CEO Olaf Swantee. “We’re setting the pace for the delivery of 4G in the UK, and it’s a great achievement for our engineering teams to be able to launch in another nine towns this month, enabling more and more consumers and businesses to take advantage of superfast mobile internet.”
Between April and June, EE 4G coverage will be expanded to Aldershot, Ashford, Basildon, Basingstoke, Blackpool, Bracknell, Camberley, Colchester, Crawley, Farnborough, Guildford, Horsham, Huddersfield, Leatherhead, Maidstone, Milton Keynes, Oldham, Oxford, Redhill, Reigate, Sevenoaks, Stevenage, Tonbridge, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Warrington, Wigan and Woking.
EE currently operates the UK’s only 4G network after it was granted permission by Ofcom to launch an LTE service using its existing spectrum last October. The other major UK operators will offer similar services later this year following the conclusion of the perpetually delayed auction of 4G spectrum.
