10 Of The Best Tech April Fools 2015

Midday on April 1 has been and gone once more, meaning the technology journalism world can breathe a sigh of relief and rest easy knowing the tidal wave of April Fools Day pitches and ‘news’ is over for another year.

Companies spend millions on developing clever and (to be honest) fairly amusing gags each year, but what did April Fools Day 2015 give to the history books? Here are some of our favourites…

1. Google flip-reverses…and also loves selfies

Google is normally excellent at April Fools Day, and didn’t disappoint this year. First up was a super-simple hack that will forever change the way you look at the site – simply type in com.google into your address bar for a new angle on life.

The search giant also dialled in to the current trend for selfies by introducing #ChromeSelfies – a way of sharing exactly how you feel about the sites that are important to you. Mobile users opening up Chrome will gain access to an app which combines surfing the web with sharing your disgust over Zayn leaving One Direction, and who doesn’t want that?

  • These are so awesome. I love the fact that these Tech companies do this. The only one I did see was the Google flip-reverses, which we enjoyed playing around with here in the office:) I wonder what they will have up their sleeve next year?
