Customers on Three’s mobile network were left without access to their favourite online apps after the company’s data network suffered an outage this morning.
After going down just before 11am today, Three was inundated with complaints from customers looking for answers as the company’s 3G and 4G networks stopped working.
Three confirmed the issue, which seems to be focused around the London area, but was also reported by users in several other areas of the country, including as far North as Newcastle before services came back online just after 1pm.
“Internet services have now been restored for affected customers,” the company added after going back online. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the issue this morning.”
According to its most recent figures, Three currently has around 4.5m customers actively using its 4G network in the UK, which is just over half of its 8.8 million total active users.
A RootMetrics study rated Three as the second best overall network in the UK, while the operator has now confirmed 4G coverage stands at 63 percent of the UK population.
The company last suffered a major outage back in January 2014, when its mobile data services went down due to an unspecified fault that left users unable to get online for several hours.

I am currently roaming with my 3 sim in the USA, and data has been unavailable all day. I am connected to AT&T on 3G OK, but the roaming connection to 3 in the UK will not work. Voice is OK though.
