Cloud storage firm Box is adding the Box Notes real-time collaboration feature to its iPhone and iPad applications, promising users they will now be able to collaborate anywhere.
Box Notes is now available to all customers, having first been announced at the company’s Boxworks conference in San Francisco last September. The feature allows multiple users to work together on a document by editing text, making annotations and leaving comments.
Notes are stored on the Box platform, with iOS users able to access existing files and create new Notes through the ‘add items’ menu. The company says a mobile version is particularly useful because it allows users to collaborate during meetings and brainstorming sessions, and post status updates wherever they are.
“At its core, Box Notes is about making it easy to work with others. It promotes the sharing of information and collaboration,” he says. “Live, concurrent editing lets everyone read and make changes instantly together. This is great for meetings – even when some participants aren’t in the office.
“And with today’s global workforce, not everyone is online and working at the same time – Box Notes is great for those situations too. Notes are automatically available to collaborators of the folder, so there’s no need to share each individual note with the people who need it.”
The recently re-released Android application will receive Box Notes later this summer.
