NetSuite Goes Mobile With NetSuite For Android Business App

NetSuite has released an Android app aimed at users who want to manage their cloud ERP, CRM and e-commerce platforms on the go.

Officially called NetSuite for Android, the app touts “360-degree business control”, with users able to control their NetSuite tools “anytime, anywhere”.

Mobile-first

Borrowing a tagline from freshly-announced partner Microsoft, NetSuite said the app is part of a drive for “mobile-first” customers.

“NetSuite for Android is unique,” said NetSuite CTO Evan Goldberg. “It’s the world’s only end-to-end cloud business management mobile app which brings full mobile and unified ERP, CRM and ecommerce functionality to Android smartphone users.”

NetSuite for Android is powered by NetSuite’s OneWorld platform, the company’s on-demand cloud-based ERP system.

NetSuite said that with OneWorld’s support for 190 currencies, 19 languages and automated tax compliance in 50 countries, the app can address “rising demand” from companies all over the world for mobile access to real-time business information.

“We believe in empowering companies and their employees so they can fully participate in the mobile revolution,” said Goldberg. “Every day, mobile devices, particularly smartphones, are playing a larger role in a growing number of day-to-day business activities.”

NetSuite turned to research firm IDC to justify its decision to release an app the Android operating system. The firm pointed to research that showed Android was the dominant smartphone operating system in 2014 with 81.5 percent of the global market share.

NetSuite’s Goldberg showed off the capabilities of NetSuite for Android onstage today during his keynote address at SuiteWorld 2015, NetSuite’s annual conference in San Jose.

Here’s one example that was given:

“A sales or services rep starts his or her working day by accessing their NetSuite calendar from their Android device to get ready for customer calls and on-site visits. The rep can then quickly pull up the complete customer history held in NetSuite from his or her smartphone and be fully prepared for all customer engagements. While with a customer, sales reps can access inventory data and place sales orders directly from their Android devices. Support reps working on customers’ issues can speed up troubleshooting and problem resolution by direct access to product information held in NetSuite and can order any replacement parts, all from their smartphones. At any point in the day, sales and support reps can capture expenses at point of purchase and submit expense reports for approval via their Android devices, attaching images of receipts taken by the camera in their smartphones. They can also track the time they spend on particular projects and submit timesheets to their managers for their sign-off."

All-round control

Malin Huffman, NetSuite’s director of product management, said that the app addresses the growing need for users to maintain all-round control over their business from today’s powerful smartphones.

“NetSuite for Android makes the rich functionality of end-to-end cloud business management accessible wherever, whenever users require it leading to dramatic improvements in productivity and response times,” said Huffman.

NetSuite for Android will be available at the end of May and will be a free download from Google Play.
