Samsung Galaxy S III Mini Coming To UK 8 November

Samsung has announced that its Galaxy S III Mini will be released on all major networks and at all major retailers in the UK on 8 November.

The compact version of the South Korean company’s flagship Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone was announced last month and aims to compete with smaller handsets such as the iPhone 5.

It has a smaller 4-inch AMOLED display, but promises many of the features of its bigger brother that make it so “natural and intuitive”, such as voice and face recognition software.

The smartphone will arrive in 8GB and 16GB varieties and boasts the same 1 GHz dual-core processor as the S III. On  the downside, it has an inferior five megapixel camera and only half of the Galaxy S III’s 2GB of RAM. It runs the latest version of Android, 4.1 Jelly Bean, and also includes 50GB of Dropbox storage that is free for two years.

“Our latest addition to the Galaxy portfolio, the Galaxy S III Mini brings the high performance, intuitive ease-of-use and nature-inspired design of the Galaxy S III in a new elegant yet compact form,” said Simon Stanford, vice president of Telecommunications & Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland. “Following the massive success and popularity of the Galaxy S III and all its features, we are confident customers will enjoy the Galaxy SIII Mini when it hits the shelves on the 8th November.”

The Samsung Galaxy S III was released earlier this year and has proved phenomenally successful, shifting 100 million units in its first 200 days on sale, faster than any other previous entry in the Galaxy range.  Samsung is also launching a Windows Phone 8 smartphone tomorrow, the Samsung Galaxy Ativ S, which is available exclusively on O2.
