Apple: Some Developer Services Back Online After Hack

Apple has said is doing its best to get developer services back online, a week after a breach of its main developer website.

The tech titan has put up a status page, which lets developers know which services have come back online. Almost all services are offline, except iTunes Connect and Bug Reporter.

Apple ‘working around the clock’

“We’ve been working around the clock to overhaul our developer systems, update our server software, and rebuild our entire database,” Apple said in a note to devs.

“We plan to roll out our updated systems, starting with Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, Apple Developer Forums, Bug Reporter, pre-release developer libraries, and videos first.

“Next, we will restore software downloads, so that the latest betas of iOS 7, Xcode 5, and OS X Mavericks will once again be available to program members. We’ll then bring the remaining systems online.”

Following the announcement of the breach late last week, when it emerged encrypted personal data was accessed, Turkish security researcher Ibrahim Balic claimed credit for the hack, claiming he only wanted to highlight vulnerabilities on the Apple site.

Yet some have disputed Balic’s claims and Apple is not commenting further on the nature of the attack.
