Virtela Offers Analytics Option for Virtualised Data Centres

Security and cloud services specialist Virtela has extended its automation and predictive analytics platforms to its managed IT infrastructure services for virtualised data centres and private clouds.

The newly integrated technologies enhance the company’s managed data centre network and security services.

Less Complexity

Virtela’s managed IT infrastructure services for virtualised data centres and private clouds alleviate complexity with the latest tools, technologies and expertise designed to accelerate data centre optimisation and transformation, while avoiding downtime associated with operational issues.

Enterprises can select from a full suite of modular services, which range from transition strategy and deployment through “Day-2 support” and ongoing 24/7 service monitoring and/or management by Virtela’s Global Operations Centres’ engineers. These engineers offer expertise in supporting multivendor IT solutions across global data centre and private cloud environments; they also use Virtela’s automation and analytics platforms.

As data centre networking evolves with the next-generation data centre environment, IT staffs must continue to contend with traditional network operations challenges, such as time-consuming manual processes and network moves, adds and changes. These challenges dampen productivity and widen the gap between existing network infrastructure and dynamic data centre requirements.

Cloud-based service delivery is enabled by the Virtela Enterprise Services Cloud (ESC), a platform purpose-built for enterprise networking, security and mobility. It features a distributed network of 50 Local Cloud Centers (LCCs) around the world. Customers of Virtela’s managed data centre and private cloud services also benefit from predictive analytics technology, VirtelaPredict, which diagnoses potential data centre network and security issues.

Virtela also serves as a single point of contact worldwide for the management of an array of data centre infrastructure. These technologies include LAN, WAN, security, IP telephony, Web proxy and application acceleration devices, whether residing in traditional data centres, virtualised data centres or private clouds. The company’s technical staff performs predictive modelling, monitoring and management across virtualisation environments.

Beyond analytics, Virtela’s IT infrastructure management services encompass network discovery, compliance and other capabilities. These include VirtelaDiscover, which automates network device and topology discovery, analysis and optimisation, and VTerm, which provides authentication, authorization and audit services to centrally control and regulate access to all network devices.

Virtualisation Management

Enterprises can choose from Virtela’s design, delivery, and end-to-end monitoring and management, or monitoring-only service options. Full life-cycle services include service management, technical support, customer support, security, disaster recovery and transition strategies. The company supports an ecosystem of hundreds of technology vendors, spanning network devices such as routers, switches, load balancers, WAN optimisers, wireless access points and RFID systems, as well as security devices such as firewalls, IPS (intrusion prevention system), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) gateways, VPN gateways and URL filtering.

“Virtela’s advanced systems and expertise help enterprises overcome a key inhibitor in the transition to next-generation data centres – the daunting complexity associated with deploying and managing these virtualised or cloud environments,” said Ron Haigh, Virtela’s vice president of cloud architecture and services. “Virtela speeds and simplifies the ongoing operation of these highly scalable environments, while protecting customers’ current infrastructure investments. This not only drives costs out of the network, but transforms networking into a catalyst for achieving next-gen data centre strategies.”

The announcement enhances Virtela’s portfolio of end-to-end managed IT services. The company works with a broad array of technologies, vendors and carriers to resolve IT issues through a single point of contact.

Customers can also use the VirtelaView portal to view predictive, real-time and historical reports about their Virtela-managed IT infrastructure. These managed data centre and private cloud services are also available to Virtela’s partner community – which includes system integrators, consultants and value-added resellers – for integration with their enterprise data centre design and installation services to deliver full life-cycle solutions.
