Citrix To Acquire MDM Firm Zenprise

Citrix has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mobile Device Management (MDM) firm Zenprise in a move which the firm says will allow it to offer the industry’s “most comprehensive line for managing mobile devices, apps and data.”

The acquisition is subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approval, and is due to be completed early next year. Terms were not disclosed.

Zenprise’s MDM solutions will be integrated into Citrix’s CloudGateway and Me@Work products for managing mobile apps and data, while offering secure access to email and the Internet. Citrix claims that this combination will result in the first solution for managing mobile devices, apps and data from a single product line.

Citrix to complete Zenprise acquisition

This will apparently help CIOs to implement Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies as they will no longer have to rely on multiple products from different vendors. This, it says, can result in complicated deployments, expensive overheads and a poor user experience.

“Consumerisation and BYOD have given rise to very difficult challenges for businesses in enabling a productive, mobile workforce while still maintaining tight controls over company information,” said Sumit Dhawan, vice president and general manager of mobile solutions and Citrix. “Zenprise was a clear choice for Citrix, with its leading MDM product, an experienced team, a history of innovation, and a footprint on more than one million devices. With a complete Citrix enterprise mobility solution, customers have all the necessary pieces to manage and secure mobile apps, content and devices.”

“This combination not only brings together incredibly complementary products, but a shared culture of innovation,” added. Waheed Qureshi, chairman and CTO of Zenprise. “Citrix and Zenprise have each proven their ability to deliver leading offerings in a fast-paced market. Together, we will accelerate our ability to anticipate and exceed our customers’ expectations for world-class enterprise mobility solutions.”
