TechWeekEurope has announced the winners of our first ever Tech Success Awards, which celebrate successful IT projects in a number of major categories.
We received more than 80 entries for these, our first awards, and have given prizes in each category was hotly contested by those who had implemented innovative and unusual IT projects within their organisations.
The winners were announced this morning by our judging panel composed of industry experts, including Ian Osborne, Project Director at Intellect, Clive Longbottom, Co-Founder at QuoCirca, Liam Newcombe, Technical Director at Romonet and Peter Judge, TechWeekEurope UK editor.
“The categories were battled out fiercely and we spent weeks deciding who should make the final few,” said Judge. “We’re really pleased with the level of interest we had in our first year and are really looking forward to next year’s awards.”
Supply chain finance company Orbian fended off competition from Doner and O2 to win the best cloud project, while Cadoxton Primary School beat Veolia Water and Memset to be named the winner of the best efficient or green project by installing a solar-powered ICT suite using low-energy terminals.
Best mobility project was won by social housing provider Stockport Homes for automating customer visits using an Android tablet, pipping Surrey County Council and construction firm Laing O’Rourke to the accolade. Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust was the victor in the public sector category for using QlikView apps to monitor patient care and reduce mortality, beating Harrow Council and NHS Institute.
The most innovative project award was won by Jaguar Land Rover for using virtual high-performance computing clusters to help manufacturer ‘virtual cars’ into real machines.
“We were so impressed by the standard of nominations to the Tech Success Awards,” said Charles Ward, COO of Tech Success Awards’ main partner Intellect. “We wanted to recognise the most successful tech projects but it’s been so hard to narrow these nominations down to a few finalists, every one of the projects deserved some form of recognition.
“These awards highlight excellence in deployment as evidenced by the impact on the performance of the business.”
