Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Specs Leaked Before Launch?

Ahead of its widely expected unveiling later today, the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have been leaked by a Korean newspaper.

The successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note was first mentioned earlier this month, with reports indicating that it would be announced at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The smartphone-tablet hybrid will apparently boast a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen capable of a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a screen ratio of 16:9, a slight increase from the 5.3-inch display included in its predecessor.

It will be powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor and will support both 3G and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G networks. An eight megapixel camera is on board and it will run the latest version of Android, 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Available in 16 and 32 GB varieties, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will have a “lighter and thinner” body and come equipped with an enhanced S-Pen stylus that lets users create sketches and take notes that are converted into a memo for editing.

Samsung has also launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, which is a larger version of the original device announced last year rather than a true successor.

The company will be hoping that its latest mobile product will provide it with some good news following its recent patent lawsuit defeat to Apple. Samsung was found to have copied a number of Apple’s design and software patents in a number of its devices and was ordered to pay $1.05 billion in damages.

Apple is now seeking a ban against eight Samsung devices in the US although the Korean manufacturer has indicated it will appeal the ruling.
