Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, a tablet equivalent of the Galaxy Note smartphone-tablet hybrid released last year.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 features a 10.1-inch screen, a massive increase from the 5.3-inch display of its predecessor as well as a number of new multi-tasking and note-taking features.
The new tablet is being touted as a device for learning and creativity, and will be available later this month.
“As well as being able to consume content such as videos, photos, document and the Internet, the Galaxy Note 10.1 also gives them the power to produce, create and customise that same content – something they won’t get from any other product on the market.”
The Galaxy Note 10.1 runs version 4.0 of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, and is powered by a 1.4GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. It will be available in three varieties. Wi-Fi only and a Wi-Fi + 3G HSPA+ will be available at launch, with a Wi-Fi + Long Term Evolution (LTE) edition available later in the year for markets that have supported networks.
Users can choose from 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage, which can be expanded to 64GB though a microSD card slot, which should provide plenty of room to store photos taken with the 5MP rear camera and 1.9MP front-facing camera.
Applications, webpages, videos and notes can be viewed side by side, while images can be copied and pasted from screen to screen. Users can take notes with the 6.5mm S Pen as well as use optimised applications such as Adobe Photoshop.
Last week, it was reported that Samsung was going to announce a 5.5-inch successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event on 29 August.
