MWC 2014 Video: Why Did CA Technologies Buy Layer 7?

In April 2013, Application Programming Interface (API) security specialist Layer 7 was acquired by the US software giant CA Technologies.

Despite having just 180 staff prior to the deal, Layer 7 customers included Adobe, Xerox, Cisco, NATO and the US Army. The sharp rise in the number of public APIs had resulted in serious growth for the Canadian company, eventually bringing it to the attention of acquisition-hungry CA.

Today, Layer 7 software complements a wide range of CA products including SiteMinder and CA LISA.

TechWeekEurope has interviewed Dimitri Sirota, SVP of Business Unit Strategy at CA, to find out more about the reasoning behind the deal, and CA’s new enterprise mobility tools that feature Layer 7 technology.
