HTC Unveils Plans For Super-Sized One M9 Plus

HTC is continuing its efforts to dominate the smartphone market with the launch of a plus-sized version of its One M9 device.

The HTC One M9 Plus will be revealed at an event in Beijing on April 8, according to invitations sent out to media in the country yesterday with the title, “More than One”.

However, there was no word on a Western release of the device, meaning it could be a Chinese exclusive.

Bigger and better?

Elsewhere, French site Nowhereelse published images and the supposed specification sheet of the new device, revealing that the M9 Plus will sport a slightly larger 5.2-inch 1440p LCD display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a MediaTek MT6795T processor.

There also appears to be a rather large and ugly fingerprint reader in the middle of the device’s bottom bezel, (see below) splitting up the traditional Boomsound speaker.

The invitation sent out yesterday (pictured left) includes an image of the device, showing a silvery metallic build and a huge camera, which according to the leak will support a 20MP camera much like the regular M9, but with a Duo Camera sensor for increased photo depth.

HTC only launched the One M9 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month, but there had been rumours of a larger companion device for some while as the company looks to compete with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.
