Red Hat Goes Back To Its Roots With Cloud Help Team

Red Hat has launched a new service platform which will see a global team of cloud ‘experts’ on-hand to help customers move quickly onto the cloud.

The Red Hat Cloud Innovation Practice will provide users with solutions and services such as open source designs and architecture with consulting, training and support.

On-ramp to cloud

Red Hat’s global services VP John Allessio said that the firm is “excited” to support companies as they on-ramp to the cloud.

Allessio said: “By combining our unique software distribution and deployment approach with our award-winning products and services, we will be able to help customers of all sizes build an agile and DevOps friendly organisation to meet the changing needs of their infrastructure demands. We hope that the Red Hat Cloud Innovation Practice will quickly become an industry-leading authority on new ways to deliver complex cloud.”

The Red Hat Cloud Innovation Practice is a by-product of the integration of technology and engineering talent gained through the company’s 2014 acquisitions of Ceph storage system provider, Inktank, and cloud computing services provider, eNovance. Red Hat said that it now has the expertise required to launch a “truly forward-looking” cloud practice.

Obviously, the services will be angled towards using solely Red Hat technologies. A press release for the announcement said: “The Red Hat Cloud Innovation Practice can define and develop standard operational procedures, methodologies and governance for cloud and DevOps strategy development and deployments across Red Hat’s current portfolio of integrated products and services, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, OpenShift by Red Hat, Red Hat CloudForms, and Inktank Ceph Enterprise.”
