Amazon UK went offline tonight for around an hour, its second outage in just 24 hours.
Reports from disgruntled social media users and website status trackers such as downdetector.co.uk point to the UK site dropping off just before 8pm GMT, with another outage a few hours before that at around 6pm GMT.
On Sunday evening, Amazon’s UK site went offline, taking Amazon Prime and Amazon Fire Phone users with it. Reports suggest there were also outages across Europe and even as far as India.
TechWeekEurope reached out to Amazon UK for an explanation on the weekend improvised downtime, but was met with a reply that gave no real hints at the reason for the outages.
Amazon said: “Amazon.co.uk was down for approximately two hours yesterday. The site is back up. Amazon’s systems are very complex and on rare occasions, despite our best efforts, they may experience problems. We work to minimise any disruption and to get the site back as quickly as possible.”
