Poll: Will PRISM Turn You Off US Cloud Providers?

US government spying programmes such as PRISM, revealed by Edward Snowden, could cost the American cloud industry dearly according to research. But will TechWeekEurope readers be taking their business elsewhere as a result of the leaks?

Our new poll asks whether you plan to move your data off US cloud services now we know for sure that the US government reserves the right to snoop on data you might have hoped to be private.

Not cloudy all day?

The skies may not be cloudy all day on the range, but US service providers have built a big business serving European customers, despite regularly expressed doubts about the Patriot Act, which gives the US some rights over foreign data stored within its shores.

Snowden’s revelations of PRISM could be a very discouraging word to US providers. But moving data can be more complicated than it looks. Will the actual effort of moving data away from US providers prove too much hassle, so customers ignore the stories of privacy breaches, and leave their customers’ data right where it is?

Our poll is designed to find out where you stand on the issue.
