MobileIron Update Lets Admins Manage Mobile Deployments On Their Tablet

MobileIron update includes new Android and iPad app, privacy options and Samsung Knox integration

MobileIron has boosted its enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform with a new tablet application that allows admins to manage devices from anywhere, delivers improved privacy controls and Samsung Knox 2.0 integration.

Administrators can use MobileIron Insight to manage mobile deployments on their iPad or Android tablet, rather than perofmring tasks through their PC. IT managers can search for users and devices, and sort them by platform or ownership to troubleshoot issues, assign policies and take basic actions.

The app will be able to download from the App Store and Google Play and forms part of MobileIron’s vision of a “mobile first” EMM platform.

Insight-Dashboard-iPad-2“Businesses are increasingly focused on providing Mobile First services for their employees. It is time for IT professionals to get that same level of attention,” says Ojas Rege, Vice President of Strategy at MobileIron. “A Mobile First IT organisation does a better job of enabling a Mobile First business. These new capabilities focus on giving IT professionals the power, flexibility, and knowledge they need to be successful.”

New employee privacy options are also included in the update in the form of Mobile Iron spaces, which limit the power of administrators to specific types of devices, countries or business units. Spaces can be set depending on language, country, employee function, operating system or whether the device is a corporately-owned or part of a BYOD deployment.

Other new features in the summer update include AppConnect container support for Samsung Knox 2.0, expanded support for Windows Phone 8.1 and expanded API support so businesses can publish apps through the Mobile Iron Enterprise App Storefront.
