EE’s 4G Coverage Tops 75 Percent Of UK As It Promises Further Rollouts

Mobile operator EE has announced a further increase in its UK 4G network, which now extends to cover over three quarters of the country’s population.

The company announced today that 18 new areas across the UK have been connected to its superfast network, meaning that its 4G services are now available in over 75 percent of the country since its launch two years ago.

The new areas include Sandhurst, home of the famous military barracks, as well as Helensburgh in Scotland, Holywood in Northern Ireland and Prestatyn in Wales, bringing the total number of large towns and cities covered by EE’s 4G network to 281.

The full list of new areas is Abingdon, Ashton-In-Makerfield, Brownhills, Corringham, Faversham, Fleetwood, Formby, Hebburn, Helensburgh, Hoddesdon, Holywood, Hythe, Prestatyn, Sandhurst, Spennymoor, Tilbury, Waltham Abbey and Wombourne.

Further expansion

EE is not preparing to rest on its laurels just yet though, as the operator promised further rollouts to come soon as it looks to provide near-complete coverage across the UK.

“Our ongoing 4G roll out means that our customers have access to by far the biggest network in the country,” said Spencer McHugh, director of brand at EE.

“Whether you’re at work or on the go, 4GEE lets you do so much more.  From superfast web browsing to streaming HD video, even the most disciplined people won’t be able to resist getting on their mobile!”

In July, EE revealed that its 4G network now has more than 4.2m subscribers across the UK, a figure it expects to grow to around 6m by the end of the year.

It was recently ranked as the best performing mobile internet service in Britain by industry observer RootMetrics, with customers also reportedly enjoying better calling and texting performance than rival operators.
