Citrix Launches ‘GoToManage’ Management Tool

Citrix Systems’ online division announced it was entering the IT Management sector with the launch of GoToManage, an integrated web-based platform for monitoring, controlling and supporting attended or unattended IT infrastructure. GoToManage is aimed at small to medium-size businesses (SMBs) and managed service providers (MSPs) who need an affordable solution and avoid complex premise-based software. Citrix said the solution could be purchased individually today or bundled with its remote support services later this year.

GoToManage is an integrated web-based platform for monitoring, controlling and supporting attended or unattended IT infrastructure anywhere. It achieves this by creating an IT ‘system of record’ – providing businesses with the ability to discover and identify all network devices, monitor critical servers and applications in real-time; manage network usage and track configuration changes.

“The acquisition of Paglo is an ideal complement to Citrix Online, allowing it to move decisively into an adjacent market to SaaS-based remote support,” says Robert Mahowald, director of IDC’s SaaS and Cloud Services practice. “GoToManage is a compelling offering with significant global appeal, considering the strength of the Citrix brand and the focus on simplicity, which is key for SaaS adoption.”

Brett Caine, general manager of Citrix Online, said the acquisition enables the company to “significantly expand” leadership in SaaS by meeting the growing demands of customers and the market for a simpler approach to IT management. “As a trusted partner to SMBs, we are well positioned to capitalise on the huge market potential in IT management with our signature and proven ‘simpler is better’ approach to web-based services,” he said. “We’re confident that GoToManage will be enthusiastically embraced by our customers and the market at large.”

Citrix also announced a partnership with Carpathia Hosting, which sees Citrix’s XenServer provides a platform for Carpathia’s InstantOn Cloud Solution, the second generation of its enterprise cloud offering. InstantOn is accessed and managed through Carpathia’s web-based E3 Portal and is powered by XenServer. Available cloud services include virtual networking, compute and storage, virtual disaster recovery, and virtual development and test. Solutions are available in either multi-tenant or private clouds to meet security and compliance requirements including government standard like FISMA and DIACAP, financial standards like PCI and healthcare standards like HIPAA.

“Delivering robust public and private cloud solutions for production-ready applications has been our focus from day one,” said Jon Greaves, CTO of Carpathia. “With the announcement of our second generation cloud service built on Citrix XenServer, we are giving our customers additional flexibility, scale and management that further allows them to take advantage of both our enterprise cloud services as well as our traditional managed hosting services.”
