Poll: Do You Actually Want A Nokia 3310?

The Nokia 3310 was the star of Mobile World Congress (MWC). Essentially, a revival of a 17 year old feature phone was more exciting than the scores of cutting edge smartphones that graced Barcelona with their presence.

For many, it was perceived as a marketing gimmick. Even Silicon suggested that even if the device doesn’t sell well, it can be considered a success for HMD Global, the new guardians of the iconic Finnish brand.

Indeed, research from Captify found searches for Nokia jumped by 797 percent following the announcement. People know Nokia is back, but does anyone actually want one?

Nokia 3310 UK Launch

They might just. Carphone Warehouse says it has received ten times more pre-registration interest for the Nokia 3310 than any other handset that debuted at MWC in the retailer’s history.

“The latent nostalgia for the 3310 is backed up by a practical functionality which makes it the perfect device for a wide variety of people,” said Andrew Wilson, UK buying director for mobile at Carphone Warehouse.

Quiz: What do you remember about MWC 2017?

“As an affordable and robust product, with a legendary battery life, we are expecting many customers to see this as the ideal secondary handset, and perfectly suited to moments like festivals and travelling, where reliable simplicity is at a premium.”

But what about you, Silicon readers? Are you tempted by a Nokia 3310 or will you keep your smartphone at the ready?
