New Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Is Slimmer Than iPad Air 2

Samsung has unleashed its slimmest-ever tablet as it looks to steal away some of Apple’s dominance of the handheld market with a brand new flagship slab.

The slimline, all-metal Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be available in either 8 or 9.7 inch configurations, weighing in at either 265g or 389g and measuring just 5.66mm across.

These vital statistics ensure the new devices are smaller than the original Galaxy Tab S, but also the iPad Air 2, which is slightly thicker and heavier.

Personal

The two versions of the Galaxy Tab S2 feature fairly similar specifications, being powered by an octa-core, 1.3GHz or 1.9GHz processor, 3GB of RAM Android 5.0 Lollipo, and either 32 or 64GB of internal memory, which can be expanded via microSD.

There’s also an 8MP rear and 2.1MP front camera, a fingerprint scanner, and either a 4,000mAh or 5,870mAh battery.

Samsung has also teamed up with Microsoft to equip the tablets with Microsoft Office Solutions, which includes 100GB of free OneDrive storage for two years.

“The Galaxy Tab S2 is not only our thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever, it also gives users quick, easy access to a wealth of superior viewing and productivity features,” said JK Shin, Samsung CEO. “We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere.”

Both the 8 inch and 9.7 inch tablets will be available with or without LTE and come with a choice of either 32GB or 64GB storage from next month. However there is no news on price just yet.
