Samsung Sells Four Galaxy S4 Smartphones Every Second
The flagship device has hit 10 million shipments in less than a month
Samsung Electronics has reported that the global channel sales for its recently released Galaxy S4 smartphone have hit 10 million, less than a month after launch.
This beats Samsung’s previous personal best, set by Galaxy S3, which needed almost two months to sell 10 million units. It is worth noting that due to overwhelming demand, Galaxy S3 appeared in some major markets only a month after the global launch.
Samsung reported record £5.2 billion profits in the first three months of 2013, with sales of its smartphones and tablets compensating for the weakness in the PC market.

The latest offering from Korea is doing well, even though it has to compete against such heavyweights as the iPhone 5, HTC One, BlackBerry Z10 and the waterproof Sony Xperia Z.
Galaxy S4 is thinner than its predecessor and actually smaller in size, despite the bigger 5-inch display. The pixel density of the Full HD Super AMOLED screen is so high it is hitting the boundaries of human vision.
The smartphone runs Android 4.2.2 on a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, features 4G connectivity and is currently available in ‘White Mist’ (white) and ‘Black Forest’ (grey) variants.
In addition to Android apps, Galaxy S4 is also loaded with proprietary software including Air View, which allows users to preview messages by hovering a finger over them, S Health which helps users monitor their well-being, and SmartPause, which pauses the video when you look away.
It was released in the UK on 26 April. Last month’s poll on TechWeekEurope revealed that over a third of our readers are keen to get their hands on a Galaxy S4.

Galaxy S4 is currently available in more than 110 countries and will enter another 45 markets in the nearest future. New colour iterations will be added this summer, including Blue Arctic and Red Aurora, followed by Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn. UK availability on these colours is to be confirmed.
