China Denies Satellite Hacks

The Chinese Government has denied allegations that it was responsible for satellite hacks that occurred in 2007/08.

A draft report released by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission last week stated that US environment-monitoring satellites were the targets of hacks during 2007 and 2008.

While the report could not prove direct involvement in the attack from a ground station in Norway, it did cite techniques as consistent with Chinese military writings.

Simply slander

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei has hit out in response to accusations, claiming that China is also the victim of cyber attacks.  In a regular news briefing Monday, He stated, that the “commission has always been viewing China with colored lenses. The report is totally untrue, made with ulterior motives, and not worth a comment.” He further noted that China opposes any kind of cyber crime, including hacking, according to Reuters.
