North Carolina Virtual Academy (NCVA), an online public charter school authorized by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, will welcome students for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year on August 20th.

NCVA serves students across the state in grades K-12. A combination of online instruction, a rigorous and engaging curriculum, and the support of state-licensed teachers helps students succeed.

NCVA students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of math, English language arts, science, history, art, and music. In high school, students have access to world languages and electives, as well as honors and Advanced Placement® courses. NCVA also offers the Career and College Promise program for students who want to earn college credits in addition to a high school diploma.

“At NCVA, we are committed to helping every student reach their full potential,” said NCVA Head of School Lauren Acome. “Our dedicated teachers and support staff take great pride in supporting every individual student’s learning goals.”

Many families and students are choosing online school because it provides an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. Athletes, advanced learners, and all types of students can balance a full academic load along with extracurricular pursuits or any other specialized needs.

“I’m excited for this new school year because NCVA is making changes that will help teachers focus on instruction that is even more individualized and offer students more support than ever,” said NCVA teacher Amy Morrison. “We’re looking forward to a year of building relationships and growth with every student, every class, every day.”

To help foster a sense of school community, NCVA provides student clubs, field trips, social outings, and other activities, including in-person National Honor Society events and a graduation ceremony in the spring.

Students and their families are encouraged to attend an in-person or online information session hosted by the school. For more information on NCVA, how to enroll and for a schedule of upcoming events, visit ncva.k12.com.
