Nokia 230 Is The Budget Feature Phone For Selfie Fans

Budget-conscious budding photographers could have a new favourite device after Microsoft launched a new Nokia-branded feature phone.

The Nokia 230, which will be available in single and dual-SIM flavours, is targeting cash-strapped photo fans, sporting two 2MP cameras, one on the back and one on the front, both of which are equipped with an LED flash for great photos in light and dark.

The device will cost $55 (£36) when it goes on sale in December, starting in India, Asia, and the Middle East, with other markets following later in 2016.

Built to last, the Nokia 230 features an aluminium rear panel that can cope with typical bumps and scrapes, and at 91.8g won’t weigh down your pockets too much.

The phone features a 2.8in QVGA (240×320) screen, and there’s also capacity for microSD memory card support up to 32 GB, meaning there’s plenty of space for your entertainment files.

The Nokia 230 also features some decent battery life, as the 1200mAh battery is able to support up to 23 hours talk time for both devices, with a standby time of up to 27 days for the Nokia 230 single SIM and up to 22 days for the Nokia 230 dual SIM.

Elsewhere, there’s microUSB connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 3.5mm AV connector, meaning this really is a feature phone that’s packed full of useful functions.

Microsoft purchased Nokia’s devices and services unit in 2013, and has utilised the brand to manufacture and sell its Lumia line of smartphones.

However back in June Nokia confirmed it wanted to return to the smartphone market once it is legally able to do so next year, but reiterated it will do so through a design and licensing model, not through direct manufacturing.
