Volley, a leading developer of voice-controlled games and entertainment apps for Amazon Alexa and Google Home, today announced the release of “The Price Is Right,” a new voice game available on Amazon Alexa-enabled devices. The game launched in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the classic television game show.

On the original TV show, contestants compete for prizes by guessing the actual pricing of retail items. “The Price Is Right” voice game experience brings this show concept to life on Alexa devices. Players are given a series of real Amazon items and challenged to guess their prices, winning points for the closest guess.

Try it yourself right now! To get an idea of Volley’s in-game experience, come on down and see if you can guess the prices of these everyday items shown in the game (answers are at the bottom of this release):

  • Inflatable cocker spaniel
  • Garlic press
  • 8-foot-tall garden gnome
  • Memory foam pillow

The voice game also recreates some of the most popular pricing games from “The Price Is Right,” such as Plinko, in which players must identify correct digits in the prices of small prizes to earn virtual Plinko chips. The game will have an accompanying visual experience for players using devices with screens such as the Echo Show or Fire TV. Players will also be able to purchase the items directly in-game in the future.

“We’re thrilled to partner with ‘The Price Is Right’ and Fremantle on a game that lets players be part of a beloved TV classic in a new, interactive way,” said Max Child, CEO and co-founder of Volley. “The voice format makes it possible for anyone to be a ‘contestant,’ and fans will have fun shouting out their guesses just like they would on the show.”

“As the longest-running game show in television history, ‘The Price Is Right’ has always been ahead of the curve, introducing new games to audiences while staying true to its classics and we’re thrilled to continue driving that creativity with Volley’s innovative approach to voice games,” said Angela Hueber, VP of Commercial and Licensing, Partnership Solutions at Fremantle. “With ‘The Price Is Right’ now in its 50th season, this voice game is the perfect opportunity to draw in new audiences while giving fans an exciting way to engage with a show they already know and love.”

Voice is rapidly emerging as a new category in the entertainment industry. Recognizing the potential to transform entertainment content into delightful voice-enabled experiences, Volley continues to expand its partnerships with leading film and TV studios. “The Price Is Right,” is Volley’s latest offering in the game show category, after the launch of the successful “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” voice game in partnership with MGM in January 2021.

“It’s an exciting creative process to re-design iconic game shows for the voice format,” said Jess Thornhill, director of voice user experience at Volley. “The rise of speech technology has enabled us to make gaming more intuitive, personal and joyful, and we’re always exploring new ways to reimagine classic entertainment experiences.”

Volley is also known for its diverse lineup of voice-controlled entertainment experiences, including “Song Quiz,” “Yes Sire”, “Popcorn Tycoon” and “Bedtime Stories”. Most recently, Volley launched “Magic Word,” an immersive word puzzle game available on Google Assistant Smart Displays.

“The Price Is Right” is available now on Alexa-enabled devices, including Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Show, Fire TV, and others. To learn more, contact Volley here.
