TÜV SÜD America today announced an expansion of its ATEX and IECEx services in North America with laboratories in Alpharetta, Georgia, USA and Gormley, Ontario, Canada.

These expansions in the Alpharetta and Gormley facilities will open up more testing capacity for our North American customers seeking to comply with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, and the IECEx International Certification Scheme.

This will strengthen our current certification program known as Field Evaluation for installed equipment in Canada and the USA. This service is similar to what is known under the IECEx/ATEX regimes as Unit Verification and is used in situations where the product is custom made, or sold in limited quantity, or already delivered to the installation site without approval.

The Alpharetta and Gormley laboratories which already boasts a dynamic team that focuses on Electromagnetic (EMC)Testing, Energy Efficiency, LED-Lighting, Wireless Testing and Certification, Reliability Testing and Product Safety Testing; will now be able to offer Explosive Atmosphere to complement their vast testing capabilities. The labs are strategically located in the South East of the United States (Alpharetta, Georgia) & the Greater Toronto Area (Gormley, Ontario).

TÜV SÜD, is one of the leading notified bodies for the safety testing and certification of electrical, non-electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment intended for use in potentially hazardous environments.

“We are committed in the need to support the industry in this vital safety area. These expansions are a first step in a long-term plan to fulfil that commitment, and with our investment into this field, the labs will be pivotal to our growth,” said Alfio Marrello, TÜV SÜD America’s Director of Industrial and Consumer Products. “TÜV SÜD has a long and notable history within the safety and testing industries, and we are excited to add this increased capacity to further help our customers,” he added.
