Section 32 Points to Growth with Key Appointments

Section 32, a venture capital fund investing at the frontiers of technology, healthcare and the life sciences, today announced appointments to support human resources, staffing and communications.

Sarah Larson was appointed Chief People Officer. Larson, who will be based in the Boston office, will provide guidance and counsel to the firm’s portfolio companies as they build organizational capabilities, focusing on areas of human capital, leadership development, and culture creation. She brings more than 20 years of human resources and leadership development to the role. She was recently Chief Human Resources Officer and Partner at Third Rock Ventures and prior to that Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Foundation Medicine.

In March, Alice Cheung was appointed Head of Talent to advise and identify top talent for Section 32’s portfolio companies. Cheung is a ten-year veteran of Google and Google X where she made a name as one of the top recruiters globally. She joined most recently from Playground Global and Essential where she led staffing.

The fund also filled key roles in communications, appointing Kenzo Fong Hing as Advisor to support marketing and communications. Fong Hing was formerly the Head of Marketing for Android and the Global Head of Marketing, Sales and Growth for Uber Eats. Claire Stapleton has joined as Writer in Residence leading content and communications efforts. Stapleton was previously at Google for twelve years where she held several key communications roles, including leading YouTube’s social media efforts and Internal/Executive Communications at Google’s in-house creative agency, Creative Lab. She helped call for the Google Walkout in 2018 and is outspoken on labor issues in tech.

Additional key appointments include Kimberly Shih as Talent Specialist. Shih was a Recruiting Specialist at Essential, where she supported the hiring efforts across the org. Anna Bullard has joined as Executive Assistant in the Boston office. Bullard has been working as an executive assistant in both biotechnology and financial services for more than 10 years.
