ResoluteAI, the research platform for science, announced today the integration of seven new ontologies, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies (OTCVs) to the tagging and classification process on Foundation, its flagship scientific research product. The addition of these OTCVs will allow users to conduct more granular searches, provide expansive flexibility with subject-specific semantic expansion, and create more insightful analyses and data visualizations.

Foundation, which includes academic publications, patents, clinical trials, tech transfer opportunities, and various FDA datasets, among others, are currently tagged and classified using ResoluteAI’s proprietary scientific taxonomy as well as PubChem, the world’s largest collection of freely accessible chemical information. The ResoluteAI tagging process will be enhanced by the addition of:

  • MeSH – the National Library of Medicine controlled vocabulary thesaurus used for indexing articles for PubMed representing concepts found in the biomedical literature;
  • MedDRA – Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities Terminology, the recommended and required system by the FDA and European authorities for regulatory submissions;
  • RxNorm – standardized nomenclature for clinical drugs for humans providing a single standardized system for naming drugs with unique identifiers for both brand-name and generic drugs;
  • OMIM – Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man is a catalog of Mendelian traits and disorders, with a focus on the relationship between phenotype and genotype;
  • GO – Gene Ontology describes gene products in terms of their associated biological processes, cellular components and molecular functions in a species-independent manner;
  • SNOMED CT – Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine — Clinical Terms is considered to be the most comprehensive, multilingual clinical healthcare terminology in the world;
  • ICD-10 CM – International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification is a system used by healthcare providers to classify and code all diagnoses, symptoms and procedures recorded in conjunction with hospital care in the United States.

“We believe the scientific research process can be significantly enhanced and accelerated by giving users enriched data,” said Steve Goldstein, CEO of ResoluteAI. “These additional ontologies, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies will dramatically improve our user’s research capabilities and increase opportunities for serendipitous scientific discovery,” Goldstein continued.

Along with significant new functionality now built into Foundation, the new metadata created by the additional taxonomies and controlled vocabularies are available via the ResoluteAPI, enhancing the data and search capabilities for Resolute’s data scientist customers. Next steps include applying these new capabilities customer’s data through ResoluteAI’s enterprise search platform Nebula, and expanding the available list of taxonomies and controlled vocabularies to more specific domains such as food and agriculture.
