Nicity (pronounced ‘nai-si-tee’), a new data-driven neighborhood discovery platform, launches this month in New York City. Developed to simplify one of life’s biggest decisions – finding a place to call home – Nicity’s hyperlocal technology will serve users with one collective place to identify, research and connect with their next new neighborhood. Launching initially with a focus on NYC, the platform’s proprietary Where Engine pairs users with their perfect neighborhood and its distinct traits based on their preferences.

“Until now, there hasn’t been an open, online technology that combines a hyperlocal neighborhood search that personalizes the process,” says Florian Jansen, Co-Founder and CEO of Nicity, Inc. “Those looking to move or relocate can now virtually visit, select, and get to know their next perfect neighborhood and its residents before they start packing their bags.”

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nicity’s founders saw people faced with some big, expensive decisions when looking to move – themselves included. High rents and low-interest rates created a sense of urgency that ultimately led some to homebuyer and renter’s remorse. The new work-from-home culture also created a demand for more enjoyable neighborhoods as residents naturally began spending the majority of their days in and around their residences.

“The team realized if people were able to explore multiple aspects of a city’s different neighborhoods at once based on lifestyle, they could make better informed decisions about where to make a move for a better quality of life. That’s when we felt like we’d cracked the code and Nicity’s Where Engine was conceived,” explains Ilya Pyatin, CTO of Nicity, Inc.

The Where Engine component collects and assesses an individual’s specific needs and preferences regarding home type and budget, followed by values like safety, transportation, schools, proximity to parks, grocery stores and more. Users are then presented with a neighborhood that best fits their lifestyle and given the opportunity to explore it further.

Once a neighborhood is selected, access is then granted to its Community Hub, a space that fosters neighborly conversations between potential and existing residents. It also encourages the sharing of real-life experiences from relocators – an authentic exchange of dialogue about the area, its benefits, and what to expect as a newcomer to the area.

According to American Community Survey (ACS) data, more than 40 million Americans move each year, with housing, employment and family topping the list of reasons why. Nicity aims to simplify this process by creating efficiencies within the often stressful and multi-stepped process. About Nicity

Nicity is a hyper-local, data-driven discovery tool that pairs individuals with their ideal neighborhood and the resources needed to relocate – personalized to simplify one of life’s biggest decisions – finding a place to call home. The platform’s WhereEngine employs a personalized series of questions about lifestyle and preferences to determine areas that best suit an individual or family. Once an ideal neighborhood is determined, the Community Hub then offers a way for users to engage directly with the community and real neighbors within it, in real-time. Plans for market expansion and additional features are planned for summer 2022.
