Lightbits Labs® (Lightbits®), a leader in NVMe®-based, scalable and software-defined elastic block storage for private and edge clouds, today announced two key additions to its leadership team with Rick Gouveia as Vice President of Sales and Pete Brey as Vice President of Product Marketing.

The appointments follow Lightbits recently delivering the industry’s first software-defined NVMe/TCP storage solution for VMware environments, being listed on the 2021 Big50 Startup Report, and named a finalist in CRN’s 2021 Tech Innovator Awards.

Rick Gouveia’s experience in software-defined and cloud storage solutions spans many years at Google, Rubrik, CenturyLink, and Dell developing significant revenue pipelines by leveraging his global network of technology professionals. He was most recently the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at Turing AI. “Lightbits’ technology enables Elastic Block Storage (EBS) over standard TCP/IP networking. Finally block storage is on the transport medium for which it was always intended. The install base is seeing huge advantages in performance, utilization and simply doing more with their existing gear and with the current supply chain crunch this could mean the difference between making end-of-year goals or not. I am excited to join Avigdor Willenz, Eran Kirzner and the rest of the team that invented the NVMe over TCP (NVMe/TCP) protocol and continue to stay in front of the technology curve that’s driving the digital transformation of our industry,” said Gouveia.

Pete Brey joins Lightbits with 20 years’ of experience in driving product strategies which solve customers’ most challenging data problems. Pete brings deep experience in marketing block, file, object, and container storage solutions for a variety of on-premises, public cloud, private cloud, and edge use cases for industries ranging from Financial Services, Media and Entertainment, Telecommunications (Telco’s), Life Sciences, Healthcare, and Oil and Gas. He has held senior positions at companies such as X-IO Technologies, NetApp, and most recently, Red Hat where he was a global market development executive for Red Hat OpenShift. He also helped build the Hewlett Packard Cloud storage solutions business. “Because it is built on top of the TCP/IP software stack, NVMe/TCP storage delivers a high-performance, simple, cost-efficient solution that is optimized for today’s multi-core application servers. It’s a great time to join the leadership team at Lightbits and help to make the benefits of NVMe/TCP storage more accessible to a broader set of customers,” said Brey.

“These are terrific additions to our management team that will help us expand our presence in on-premises, hybrid, and edge cloud deployments. Their extensive backgrounds and expertise significantly bolsters our capacity to deliver high-performance, software-defined NVMe/TCP storage solutions to enterprise customers and continue our work to make low latency application access available to IT organizations supporting high-performance databases, big data analytics, and Web-scale environments using bare metal, virtual or container-based architectures,” added Eran Kirzner, CEO at Lightbits.
