Empowering Legal Teams with Advanced AI Capabilities

Lexbe CoPilot equips lawyers with a virtual eDiscovery assistant that can automate a multitude of tasks including summarizing documents, creating document timelines, defining acronyms, locating personally identifiable information (PII), identifying trends in case data, and mapping people, documents, and events in each case.

“We’ve engaged clients and industry thought leaders in the development of Lexbe CoPilot, and learned very quickly that making it simple to use would be a critical factor in driving adoption,” said Gene Albert, CEO of Lexbe. “Therefore, we pre-engineered useful prompts to ensure that customers in the legal industry would be productive from the start, while also enabling them to create their own custom prompts to generate their desired responses.”

Lexbe CoPilot is highly flexible and allows each user to customize their workflow, utilize the GenAI model of their choice, and optimize their specific legal use-case. Lexbe CoPilot is also the first eDiscovery solution to have comprehensive prompt management, including the ability to save, share, and collaborate on prompts across a firm’s litigation team.

Lexbe CoPilot is a force multiplier for increasing productivity, handling document intensive reviews, and resolving specific issues at the document and case levels.

“Having the ability for documents to be automatically analyzed, with contextual insights, while building our case in our preferred workflow is a big advantage over traditional e-discovery practices,” said Jordan Howlette, Founder and Managing Attorney, JD Howlette Law. “We’re excited about how Lexbe CoPilot can help level the playing field against the largest, well-funded opposition.”

In addition, Lexbe CoPilot supports integration with GenAI models that provide zero data retention APIs, which means there is no permanent storage of the case data by the GenAI model and case data will not be used for training.

Lexbe CoPilot also delivers intelligent review automation which takes document review to the next level by eliminating the burdensome and error-prone linear training process required by legacy technology assisted review (TAR) and continuous active learning (CAL) automated document review processes while delivering faster results at reduced costs.

“Our research and testing integrating large GenAI models into eDiscovery workflows has achieved astonishing results in terms of quality and speed,” said Karsten Weber, CTO of Lexbe. “Not only are the GenAI models highly adept at identifying relevant documents because of their sophistication and having been trained on such a large corpus of data, but they give you the rationale for the responsiveness determination and a superior confidence score.”

In the process of developing Lexbe CoPilot, the AI innovation team at Lexbe tested multiple GenAI models across six topics on a first pass document review for responsiveness, measuring precision and recall. OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Anthropic’s Claude 2 performed well above the traditional industry standards for predictive coding.

Analyzing documents for litigation with Lexbe CoPilot not only helps law firms that handle document intensive cases but is also instrumental for companies organizing documents to achieve litigation readiness. Legal professionals can slash the time and cost of document review, easily manage the document review sets, review the performance of the GenAI model, and access the false positive and false negative documents in a single click within the Lexbe eDiscovery Platform.

“The ability of Lexbe CoPilot to process and analyze large volumes of data with nuanced understanding is revolutionary. Having a large language model integrated into the Lexbe eDiscovery Platform in a way that optimizes our workflow is exceptional,” said Jessica Wehby, Ediscovery Project Manager at Lightfoot, Franklin & White.

In addition to automating document review, Lexbe CoPilot automates many eDiscovery tasks, including:

  • Summarizing depositions and case documents

  • Identifying entities, key dates, and events

  • Defining acronyms

  • Translating documents

  • Comparing documents

  • Providing advanced search capabilities

  • Identifying personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI)

  • Identifying trends through data pattern analysis

  • Creating timelines of case-relevant events

  • Mapping relationships between people, documents, and events

  • Achieving litigation readiness
