AI Redefined (AIR), a company focused on building software products for human-AI collaboration, announces today that Kathryn Hume has joined its Board of Directors. Hume, who is Vice President, Digital Investments Technology at RBC, takes up the position of Independent Director on AIR’s Board.

Hume’s role at AIR is the latest step in a career spent building companies and products that unlock the commercial value of emerging technologies. Prior to joining RBC, where she has also served as Interim Head of Borealis AI, Hume held leadership positions at integrate.ai and Fast Forward Labs (Cloudera), where she helped large Fortune 500 companies apply machine learning to increase revenue and operational efficiency. A widely respected speaker and writer on AI, Hume holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Stanford University. She speaks seven languages and has taught courses on enterprise adoption of AI, law, and ethics at Harvard Business School, MIT Media Lab, Stanford, and the University of Calgary Faculty of Law.

“We are delighted to welcome Kathryn in a role that will allow us to benefit from her wealth of expertise in building AI that is equally cutting-edge, economically effective, and contextually responsible,” said Craig Vachon, the CEO of AIR. “Kathryn’s passion for understanding AI’s limitations and potential is a great match with our own priorities.”

Welcoming Hume to its Board is the latest development in an action-packed 2022 for AIR. Other highlights include the May hires of Matthew E. Taylor as Research Director and Jordy Berson as Chief Product Officer, both leadership hires that signal the company’s ongoing commercial and research expansion. Hume’s contributions to AIR’s governance and strategy will position the company well for further responsible innovation.
