Improovy, a platform for connecting homeowners with trusted painting contractors on demand, today announced that it has raised $2.79 million in a round led by M25. Additional participation came from Matchstick Ventures; Allos Ventures; MATH Venture Partners; FJ Labs; Pareto Holdings; and Techstars (a follow-on investment). The funds will be used to propel hiring efforts, technology development, and geographical expansion.

Today, home improvement service delivery is a hassle for homeowners and contractors alike. For homeowners, it can be difficult to find, compare, and select contractors; once the contractor is booked, managing the process becomes an additional burden. At the same time, contractors face challenges when it comes to consistently booking jobs, making it more challenging to keep their teams employed and businesses growing.

Improovy creates a better experience for all parties. With an initial focus on painting services, the company’s online platform speeds up the home improvement process and takes care of the details, enabling things to run smoothly throughout. Based on its vetted network of professionals, Improovy connects homeowners with the painting contractor who best matches their needs and timeline, then handles the minutiae of the engagement. Improovy’s virtual design consultation tool – powered by its partnerships with Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore – helps homeowners select paint colors and determine design elements, adding to the convenience of the experience. For contractors, Improovy offers an avenue for growing consistent business and managing jobs; the platform gives them the tools to strengthen their reputations, own their search rankings, and simplify client interaction.

“Since I first started working in house painting at age 19, I’ve experienced firsthand the ins and outs of home improvement. I’ve seen how challenging it can be for both homeowners and contractors,” said Andre Kazimierski, CEO & co-founder of Improovy. “We built Improovy to make the experience not only simple, but delightful. With our pricing algorithm, mobile quote capabilities, and matching system, we leverage the best aspects of technology – along with extensive team expertise – to improve home improvement.”

“Improovy is truly a unique and exciting business, and we believe it is on track to build something truly special,” added Mike Asem, Founding Partner at M25. “We couldn’t be more grateful to Andre and his team for choosing to partner with us, and are excited to support them as they continue scaling this business and tackling the fragmentation of the home improvement industry.”

Improovy received additional funding from several influential figures in the technology space; these angel investors included Stu Grubbs (CEO & co-founder of Lightstream); Taylor Katzman (CEO & founder of Provi); Brandon Brown (CEO & founder of Grin); Todd Saunders, Daniel Pratt, and Jeff Bieber (CEO, CRO, and VP of Marketing at Broadlume, respectively); and Eric Dunigan and Matt Pyatt (President & co-founder and CEO & co-founder of Arrive Logistics, respectively). The company also recently added Garry Cooper Jr., CEO & co-founder of Rheaply, to its board of directors.

This news adds to the company’s increasing momentum. Earlier this month, Improovy launched in Dallas, bringing the total number of cities on the platform to four (the platform is also live in Chicago, St. Louis, and Ann Arbor). In the coming months, Improovy plans to add several new cities and home improvement services to the platform.
