Photos and mind-blowing specifications for new iteration of the Xperia range leaked
Details have leaked concerning the latest handsets in Sony’s Xperia smartphone range, featuring some rather impressive specifications for the company’s new round of devices.
Reports from Android Origin appear to have uncovered details on both the Xperia Z4 Compact and Z4 Ultra, the budget and phablet companions to the flagship Z4 device which should see the light of day at Mobile World Congress 2015 in March, with the additional two devices following later in the year.
Both devices are packing some serious power, marking a major step-up from the Z3 family.
To begin with, the Z4 Compact, the successor to the Z3 Compact, will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset set to be present in the rest of the Xperia Z4 family alongside 3GB of RAM.
The device will feature a 4.7in 1080px screen, and will also come with 32GB of internal memory, a 20.7MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera capable of recording 1080p video
It will also include support for superfast LTE Cat.9 internet alongside Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and wireless charging.
Alongside the two handsets, Sony is also looking to step up its game in the phablet market with the release of the Z4 Ultra. The successor to last year’s Z3 Ultra will sport a 6.44in QuadHD screen powered by the Snapdragon 810 chipset and 3GB RAM in Sony’s latest smartphones.
The Ultra will feature a 16MP rear camera equipped with a smaller sensor than those seen in the smartphones, with similar storage and connectivity features to the Z4 devices. It will reportedly support a stylus, marking a step up from previous devices, and suggesting that Sony will try and promote the Ultra as a business working device.
Sony only revealed the Xperia Z3 family (pictured right) at the IFA event in September, featuring features a wide-angle camera with ISO 12800 sensitivity and support for PS4 Remote Play. The company also announced two wearables – an activity tracker called SmartBand Talk and the latest iteration of its smartwatch – the SmartWatch 3, as it looks to keep pace with competitors in what has become an increasingly congested mobile device market.
