Marissa Mayer has only just arrived at Yahoo from Google, but execs are already fleeing and some of them are finding jobs at far more profitable organisations, according to reports.
Adam Bechtel, who was VP of infrastructure at Yahoo, is believed to be heading off to Apple, whilst one of the troubled firm’s key social guys, Jonathan Katzman, is moving over to the Minerva Project, which is working on online education.
“It’s not Mayer’s fault, but some of us are just done,” one source leaving the company told AllThingsD. “A lot of us just can’t take another restructuring.”
It’s unsurprising that workers are unsettled, given the seemingly endless reshuffling going down at Yahoo. Earlier this week, it emerged Ross Levinsohn, the man who served as the interim CEO of Yahoo for two months and was widely expected to keep the position, left the company. He took over after previous CEO Scott Thompson, was fired over including a non-existent computer science degree in his CV and regulatory findings.
On 16 July, Yahoo named longtime Google engineer and executive Marissa Mayer as its eighth chief executive. According to reports, she will earn around £45 million in five years. That’s if Yahoo sticks around for that long.
Many still doubt that she can save Yahoo. A TechWeekEurope poll shows a massive 77 percent of readers do not believe Mayer can turn things around.
