Windows 10 Now Running On More Than 200m Devices

Microsoft has revealed that its Windows 10 operating system is now up and running on 200 million devices around the world.

“As of today, there are more than 200 million monthly active devices around the world running Windows 10,” said the blog post written by Microsoft executive Yusuf Mehdi.

Humbled

“We continue to be excited – and humbled – by the incredible response to Windows 10. First, a few updates on how we’re tracking toward our goal of seeing Windows 10 active on more than one billion devices.”

Microsoft also said that the adoption rate for Windows 10 is accelerating, with more than 40 percent of new Windows 10 devices becoming active since November 27 2015.

The firm, which released Windows 10 as a free operating system upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users last summer, said that adoption is growing the fastest out of any version of Windows previously released, outpacing Windows 7 by nearly 140 percent and Windows 8 by nearly 400 percent.

“We are also seeing accelerating and unprecedented demand for Windows 10 among enterprise and education customers,” said Microsoft.

“As of today, more than 76 percent of our enterprise customers are in active pilots of Windows 10, and we now have over 22 million devices running Windows 10 across enterprise and education customers.”

Microsoft is also putting up its hybrid laptop Surface Book for UK pre-order tomorrow at Currys, PC World, and the Microsoft Store starting at £1,299. Featuring a 12-hour battery life, detachable screen and the company’s first-ever hinged design, the Surface Book was described as “the ultimate laptop,” by Microsoft’s Panos Panay at an event in New York.
