Intellect Joins TechWeekEurope’s Tech Success Awards

Intellect, the UK technology trade association, has signed up as a main partner for the Tech Success Awards, launched by TechWeekEurope earlier this year.

Intellect will promote the Tech Success Awards which will celebrate outstanding achievements across the technolgy industry, looking in particular for projects that capitalise on new possibilities provided by technologies such as cloud computing, Big Data, open source and mobile devices.

Recognition where it is due

“Successful tech projects rarely get the visibility and recognition they deserve,” said Charles Ward, chief  operating officer at Intellect. “These awards highlight excellence in deployment as evidenced by the impact on the performance of the business.  It’s a refreshing perspective because success is all about outcomes.”

Instead of focusing on products and services, the Tech Success Awards aim to recognise projects, where IT departments have delivered great services and added value to their company through using new technologies.

Intellect will help to judge the awards, bringing vast knowledge and expertise to the panel, as well as a deep understanding of the industry. The association represents the views of industry to government and regulators, giving them a chance to interact on key policy and market issues.

“We are delighted to be working with Intellect, a professional body that champions the role of technology in business,” said Peter Judge, editor of TechWeekEurope. “These Awards will celebrate the professionalism and creativity of organisations using IT, and mark the emergence of new ways to use new technology to run a business.”

New entries are welcome for the awards until the closing date of 19 October. The contest will be judged by a panel including panel including TechWeekEurope editor Peter Judge, deputy Tom Brewster, QuoCirca analyst Clive Longbottom, founder of the Open Source Consortium Mark Taylor, Liam Newcombe of Romonet and the BCS Data Centre Specialist Group, amongst other industry luminaries. The results will be revealed later in the year.

To be eligible your project should be live, should have been delivered in the UK since May 2011, and should fit one or more of the following categories:

  • Most Innovative Project, where you have used technology differently to how it has been used anywhere else
  • Best Efficient/Green project, where you have saved energy or resources, either within your own organisation, or enabling savings elsewhere
  • Best Cloud Project, where services have moved to an internal or external cloud, allowing flexibility and maybe some savings as well
