Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Officially Confirmed

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini promises all the features of its bigger brother

Samsung has officially confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini after accidentally revealing the existence of the device on its official UK website earlier this week.

The handset is a smaller version of the Korean manufacturer’s Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship device and promises to deliver the performance, usability and design of the S4 in a more compact 4.3-inch package.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is powered by a 1.7GHz dual core processor, compared to the 1.9GHz quad-core or 1.6GHz octa-core chips of its bigger brother, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and 1.5GB of RAM. It will ship with 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded by up to 64GB through a MicroSD card slot.

“Demand for the Galaxy S4 has been phenomenal since it launched in April and we hope to build on this success with the Galaxy S4 Mini,” said Simon Stanford, vice president of the IT and mobile division at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland. “This new handset is the ideal smartphone companion for anyone who wants a compact device packed with innovation.”

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will be available in two colours – white frost and black mist – and will come in 4G LTE, 3G and 3G Dual SIM variants. UK release information will be revealed at a later date, but the device will be shown off at an event in London next month when it is believed that more Samsung products will be launched.

Samsung sells four Galaxy S4 smartphones every second and has reached the ten million shipment milestone less than a month after the handset was released.

This beat Samsung’s previous personal best, set by the Samsung Galaxy S3, which needed almost two months to sell ten million units.

Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world with a 30.8 percent share of the global market, according to research firm Gartner, contributing to record profits of £5.2 billion in the first three months of 2013.
