Samsung Galaxy Nexus Plagued By Volume Bug

Google’s newest flagship Android device, the Galaxy Nexus, is suffering from volume issues which have plagued users who have snapped one up since the Samsung built phone received its nationwide release last Friday.

Google and Samsung have confirmed that they are aware of such issues and are preparing a fix, but have not said when this will arrive.

“Regarding the Galaxy Nexus, we are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix,” said a Samsung statement, “We will update devices as soon as possible.”

Users have complained on Android forums of sudden losses in volume while using the phone. Some have said that it occurs randomly while others have noted the problem occurs when using 3G, WiFi and Sat Nav. One poster has said that it gets even worse when using a 2G network.

The Galaxy Nexus is the third flagship Google phone following the HTC manufactured Nexus One and the Samsung produced Nexus S, both of which debuted last year.

The phone features a 4.5” AMOLED screen capable of offering 720p resolution and boasts a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and a 5 megapixel low-light optimised rear camera.

It is powered by a 1.2 GHZ processor and is the first Android device to use the latest version of the Android operating system, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which aims to unify elements of the smartphone-focused Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the tablet oriented 3.0 Honeycomb branches of the software.

Ice Cream Sandwich will improve camera controls, multi-tasking, support for near-field communications and a number of new security features as well as a redesigned interface and contacts system.

Android phones account for over half of all smartphone sales and Google will hope that its new device and updated operating system will allow it to maintain and increase its current market share.
