The London Stock Exchange has appointed Joanna Shields and Sherry Coutu as non-executive directors in a bid to persuade more tech firms to list there.
Former Facebook executive Shields, who stood down as CEO of London’s Tech City today, and Coutu, who serves on the boards of Raspberry Pi Foundation and LinkedIn, will join the LSE’s board, specifically to boost the tech coverage of the Exchange according to Reuters,
The two women have good records as entrepreneurs, LSE told Reuters, and the stock exchange is currently making efforts to woo tech firms through initiatives such as its joining High Growth Segment, launched last February.
Before joining Tech City, Shields was Facebook’s vice-president and managing director for EMEA, having previously held positions at Bebo, AOL, RealNetworks and Google.
Angel investor Coutu is currently on the board of the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Cambridge University’s finance board, as well as the advisory board of LinkedIn. She previously launched and sold two financial services businesses.
