John McAfee Arrested In Guatemala

John McAfee, founder of the famous anti-virus firm and man-on-the-run, has been allegedly detained in Guatemala for entering the country illegally.

McAfee, who is wanted for questioning by Belize police over the murder of his neighbour and fellow US expatriate Gregory Faull, crossed over to Guatemala earlier this week. It appears he had forged an elaborate escape plan, which included the use of a body double, who McAfee claimed was arrested at the border between Belize and Mexico.

The eccentric millionaire had disclosed his location for the first time yesterday, promising to hold a press conference in which he claimed he could prove corruption within Belize law enforcement.

He had also retained a lawyer, who also happened to be the uncle of his partner Sam Vanegas. McAfee claimed he was with her at the time of Faull’s killing, claiming other witnesses could back him up.

However earlier today, he was arrested. Despite being detained by the Special Police Task Force in Guatemala, McAfee has continued to post on his blog, saying that he asked for a computer and it “magically appeared”.

“The coffee is also excellent,” he blogged today. “Only time will tell what will happen.  No one has a crystal ball.  However, I would be truly shocked if I did not conduct the press conference tomorrow as I had originally planned.

“I believe, by the way, that blogging from a jail cell might be a groundbreaking activity.  Let’s see if it catches on.”

He claimed to have spoken to the duty officer at the American Embassy in Guatemala. McAfee also said a judge has issued a stay order until a higher judge can review the case. “This effectively stops Immigration from returning me to the Belize border,” he wrote. “The urgency is eased a bit.”
