Vodafone Tells iPhone 4S Customers It’s Safe To Download iOS 6.1.1

Vodafone has advised its iPhone 4S customers it is now safe to download iOS 6.1.1, which includes a solution to the 3G performance issues affecting those who had upgraded to iOS 6.1.

iOS 6.1 was released last month, offering expanded support for LTE networks on the iPhone 5 and faster web browsing, but some users flocked to Apple’s support forums to complain of connection problems and reduced battery life.

Vodafone appeared to be the only UK network affected by the issue and said customers may “occasionally experience difficulty in connecting to the network to make or receive calls or texts or to connect to the Internet,” and warned users not to download the update until Apple had fixed the problems.

The iPhone manufacturer has duly delivered and Vodafone says it is now safe to download the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system.

“Apple has released a new version of its iPhone software that fixes the 3G performance issues that have been affecting users of the iPhone 4S who had installed iOS 6.1,” said the operator. “Please download the latest version – iOS 6.1.1 – from Apple as soon as you can as this will deal with these issues.”
