AVG is securing MultiMi’s future by adding its market reach to help those who need to juggle their digital lives
AVG Technologies is taking on Twitter’s TweetDeck by promoting MultiMi, a browser that integrates the principal social networks, including Google+, Facebook and LinkedIn; cloud services such as Box.net, Google Docs, Flickr and YouTube; and online email and chat messaging systems.
The services integration tool was developed by Israeli company Zbang to help people juggle their online lives in a unified environment. Eidan Apelbaum, CEO of Zbang, said, “MultiMi helps you stay in control of the increasing streams of incoming information, while making it much easier to share and collaborate. MultiMi doesn’t just aggregate, it integrates. In an intuitive and very easy to use way, it helps you organise and simplify your digital life.”
Security As An Added Perk
The software is integrated with AVG’s LinkScanner to add security to the various feeds. The MultiMi dashboard brings the interfaces together in a customisable format.
Sharing a file or moving it to cloud storage can be done by dragging and dropping icons. This makes it easier to post updated images and documents as well as sending files to general cloud storage accounts.
The email feature creates an alternative to programs like Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird where managing online email accounts is concerned. Many people have multiple accounts and controlling them can be time-consuming and overwhelming. MultiMi helps users to be more productive and effective.
The application softens the boundary between online services. For example, users can drag a tweet into an email while simultaneously updating their Facebook status, or, conversely, drop a photo from an email into Flickr or Picasa.
MultiMi can be expanded to embrace new services simply by selecting the setting button on the top right of the MultiMi tool bar. New services accounts can then be added by selecting the service and filling in the details.
“AVG wants to enable people to reach their digital potential by reassuring them that their digital life is safe from external threats,” explained J R Smith, CEO of AVG Technologies. “With MultiMi we are excited to add to our secure wave of products, using innovative technology to expand into new areas, applying our 20 years of security expertise”
