Anonymous Pledges Revenge After French Firm Trademarks Logo

Anonymous is turning its crosshairs to a French firm which trademarked the hacktivist group’s logo and signature phrase.

Paris based fashion business Early Flicker registered the image of a headless man in a suit for use in France as well as the Anonymous sign off: “We are Anonymous. We do not forgive. We do not forget, Expect us.”

Anonymous now wants the company to revoke the registration, promising to target Early Flicker’s websites until its demands are met.

Anonymous ‘defiled’

“Anonymous’ logo and slogan has been defiled,” the group said in a YouTube video, pointing to the Early Flicker website pickapop.fr, which is selling T-shirts with both the logo and the signature (see left).

The company also sells mugs with the LulzSec logo of a cartoon character in a top hat.

Anonymous said the “ignorance of what they have done will not got unpunished”. “Anonymous will take down any business they have going on the Internet and the 99 percent will not stop until the registration has been revoked and a public apology has been made,” it added.

“The name of Anonymous will not be the horror of the world.”

Anonymous appeared upset with the French trademark office, the INPI, but did not say it would target the body.

Anonymous has had a quiet summer so far, following a busy start to 2012. In the first five months of the year, it hit big-name sites, including Virgin Media, TalkTalk and Theresa May’s website, which was hit in protest of extradition laws.

Today, the group said it was going to target Japanese government sites following reports the country had signed up to the controversial Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).
