The Town of Vail has integrated Colorado Interactive’s (CI) payment processing engine into its short-term rental platform, making it easier for property owners to manage properties and complete and pay for property registrations online.

Colorado’s rapidly evolving, short-term rental market has local governments utilizing technology so owners can manage properties from anywhere at any time. The new capability is available to property owners via https://www.vailgov.com/short-term-rentals.

“For property owners, Colorado Interactive’s payment system reduces the steps in the process so they can quickly register their properties online. This convenience is especially important to multiple property owners because they can pay for all properties in one payment transaction,“ said Sales Tax Manager Alex Jakubiec. “From an administrative standpoint, the payment integration is easy to use, allows us to link payments directly to registration information and simplifies daily reconciliations with the state and the bank.”

The ability to link payments directly to registration information also enables administration to expedite the approval process for short-term rentals.

“Colorado’s fast-growing, short-term rental market is generating requests for our payment processing engine from city, town and county governments across the state,” said CI President and General Manager Mike Ansley. “When regulation and compliance issues for short-term rentals are demanding attention, our payment processing engine is saving them time and giving them relief in knowing it meets the highest level of the payment card industry’s data security standards.”

Vail’s government website incorporates the Transaction Processing Engine (TPE) from CI and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA). TPE is a Level 1 PCC-DSS compliant, life cycle transaction management tool. It’s simple to use and equips governments with extensive financial reporting. TPE allows them to process payments by credit card, debit card, PayPal and eCheck (ACH) in a secure environment.

“Efficiency and security are top focuses for Colorado SIPA,” said SIPA Executive Director Jack Arrowsmith. “Our partnership with Colorado Interactive enables us to provide governments with a secure payment system capable of integration, making transacting business easier and safer for the town of Vail and for its residents.”

CI provides digital government services to state agencies, local governments and educational entities through a contract with SIPA — the official internet portal connecting the public with Colorado government. The partnership’s mission allows government leaders to focus on delivering on-demand, digital government solutions without requests for proposals or the use of tax appropriations. The CI/SIPA partnership has benefited more than 30 counties across Colorado. Eligible government entities in need of payment processing, integration or management services should start with SIPA.
